HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

The fight for $15 heats up with health service workers preparing for a large demonstration outside a clinic in Hartford.

Health providers feel they lack respect and are grossly underpaid for the important work they do caring for others.

This has been an ongoing fight from health care professionals.

In March 2015, nursing home workers took their frustrations to the steps of the state capitol to raise awareness.

On Wednesday morning, their colleagues are planning to picket outside of Community Health Services on Albany Ave.

Caregivers are working toward a second contract with CHS, seeking $15 per hour for health aides, and pushing CHS to change its proposals which currently stand below the desired wage.

The union representing the caregivers, ATF Local 5151, members of the Fight for 15 and workers will be part of the demonstrations.

The protest begins at 6:30 a.m. and runs until 7:30 a.m.
