HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) -

A 27-year-old woman was arrested after police said she was stabbed multiple times with scissors in Hamden on Wednesday morning.

Police charged 54-year-old Gloria Williams, of Meriden, with second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

The arrest of Williams comes after officers were called to a “fight in progress” near the intersection of Morse and Columbus streets. Upon arrival, officers found a "large crowd" and a woman screaming that she had been stabbed.

During their investigation, police learned that Williams stabbed the woman after a fight between Williams and the victim's sister.

The victim, who had serious stab wounds to her chest, back, shoulder and hand, was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital. The condition of the victim was not released by police.

Williams will be arraigned at Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 3.
