NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

People will gather on Chanukah in New Haven to challenge islamophobia and fight against racism.

Members of the Jewish community will hold a vigil on Wednesday night to "publicly rekindle their commitment to justice in different cities across the country during the Jewish holiday of Chanukah."

Members of the New Haven–Jewish Voice for Peace and Muslim Coalition of Connecticut as well as people of other faiths are scheduled to appear at the event. They will join members from other Jewish Voice for Peace in more than 25 cities.

The vigil will be held at the New Haven Green, which is near the intersection of Chapel and College streets, around 5:30 p.m.
