EAST GRANBY, CT (WFSB) -

State police said a man working for a moving company was hit by a car in East Granby on Tuesday night.

It happened a little around 9:30 p.m. at Seymour and Spoonville Roads.

They identified the victim as Robert Louis Perryman, 66, of Stone Mountain, GA.

His injuries were described as serious.

Troopers said 18-year-old Shawn Herring of Pleasant Valley, NY was behind the wheel and was not hurt.

State police said an Atlas moving truck and had been trying to turn south onto Spoonville Road at Seymour Road.

Perryman, an Atlas employee, was attempting to help the driver with the turn by standing in the intersection.

However, another vehicle driven by Herring that was traveling east on Seymour Road collided with Perryman at the intersection.

Perryman was transported to Hartford Hospital for suspected serious injuries.

Herring is cooperating with investigators, troopers said.

The incident remains under investigators.
