(Meredith) – A 24-year-old Florida woman was charged with animal cruelty after surveillance video showed her repeatedly kicking a small dog inside an apartment elevator, the Miami-Herald reports.
Before taking the dog for a walk on Sept. 20, Keevonna Wilson cornered and attacked the Shih-Tzu named Chastity, according to Aventura police.
Miami-Dade Animal Services reported the beating and removed Chastity from the home. The 10-pound puppy reportedly had bruises all over her body when the veterinarian examined her.
The vet said Chastity was frightened at first but became “friendly and easy to examine,” the Herald reports.
Police arrested Wilson on animal cruelty charges a week after the incident. She is currently out on bond.
The dog is recovering in foster care through animal services.
