NORWALK, CT (WFSB) -

The Norwalk Fire Department said they responded to an accident involving a tractor-trailer and two vehicles on I-95 Northbound between Exit 16 and Exit 17 around 6:50 a.m. on Saturday.

Norwalk Fire Department officials said a BMW sedan rear-ended an SUV and sent it into the median.

The sedan then became wedged to the side of the trailer of a truck and traveled well over a thousand feet before coming to a stop against a guardrail.

The Fire Department said an 18-year-old male driver had to be “extricated” and a 18-year-old female passenger climbed out of the sedan’s sunroof before firefighters arrived on the scene.

The male driver of the sedan did not appear to have life-threatening injuries and the two people in the SUV walked to the ambulance on their own power.

The truck driver was uninjured but the trailer was slightly damaged.

Norwalk Hospital Paramedics transported the injured people to the hospital.

The Norwalk Fire Department said they cleared the scene at about 7:45 a.m. but state police remain on scene to investigate.
