HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Seven Connecticut state parks were closed on Monday due to downed tree limbs, according to state officials.

The heavy winds and strong rains caused Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials to close state parks. There is no access to the following state parks:

  • Harkness Memorial state park in Waterford (Closed Monday)
  • Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme
  • Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam (Closed Monday)
  • Hopeville Pond State Park in Griswold (Closed until noon on Monday)
  • Sherwood Island State Park in Westport (Closed until further notice)
  • Green Falls section of Pachaug State Forest in Voluntown
  • Haystack Mountain State Park in Norfolk (Closed Monday)

The vehicle access road to Castle Craig in Meriden, which is not a state park, was also closed on Monday because of "weather conditions."
