Route 6 in Killingly closed due to crash

A motor vehicle crash has closed Route 6 in Killingly on Tuesday afternoon.

The two-vehicle crash was reported on Providence Road, which is also known as Route 6, near Westscott Road intersection around 1:30 p.m. State police said one of the vehicles caught on fire after the crash. 

State police said one person suffered a life-threatening injury while the driver of the vehicle that caught on fire suffered "minor injuries." 

The cause of the crash is under investigation by Connecticut State Police. 

Drivers are advised to avoid the area because state police said they expected an "extended closure" of Route 6. To stay ahead of traffic delays, click here
