If you plan to hit the golf course for the Travelers Championship this week, expect to see some new and improved areas.
While the pros won't tee off until Thursday, many went out for Wednesday’s Celebrity Pro-am.
On Wednesday, spectators said they were impressed by the changes organizers made and added to this year's Travelers Championship.
The biggest improvement is in the fan zone, a great place to cool down from the heat.
If that’s not enough, there are more changes in that area.
“We added Wi-Fi, charging tables, shades, baby changing stations, and luxury bathrooms,” said Nathan Grube, Travelers tournament director.
But, he said the changes start right as you drive in.
“It starts as soon as the fans park. We added more shuttles in the parking lot to bring people in. We widened the gates and added more lines to get in. We changed our concession set up to get in and out of lines faster,” Grube said.
He said they did all of this because people asked for it.
“We do things like that because we hear back from the fans and we try to engage with the surveys and these are things they say would be great, so we listen to that and we're able to put it together,” he said.
That's something many appreciate.
“I just like all the people watching the golfers, so nice to see in person,” said Sharon Tarchini.
Another big thing to note is the umbrellas available that provide shade from the beating sun.
