3 Cares proudly partners with the Petit Family Foundation and Chip’s Family Restaurant for the third year in a row.

Chips Family Restaurant 5k Road Race and Fitness Walk is set for July 22nd, 2018 at Plainville High School 47 Robert Holcomb Way Plainville, CT.

All proceeds from the race will benefit The Petit Family Foundation. Over the last eleven years the Petit Family Foundation has awarded close to $3 million dollars in grants to programs and projects in our local communities, New England and the United States because of the outstanding participation in this race.

Doctor Bill Petit, Founder and President of the Petit Family Foundation, weighs in, “It has become a community event and it makes everyone that participates a part of the foundation. We raise all of our money though our events, I am very appreciative of the community and everyone that helps every year.”

The Petit Family Foundation honors the memories of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, Hayley Elizabeth Petit, and Michaela Rose Petit by continuing the kindness, idealism and activism that defined their lives. The Foundation's funds are given to foster the education of young people, especially women in the sciences; to improve the lives of those affected by chronic illnesses, and to support efforts to protect and help those affected by violence.

“To me, it is something that my brother Gary and I started the first year when this tragedy happened to help a friend and classmate as well as to support the Petit Family Foundation” Said Robert Heslin, race co-director. “It has become a community event in Plainville.”

With two separate courses for the Fitness Walk and 5k this family friendly event takes a scenic look at the town of Plainville. Registration and bib pick up occur the day of the race from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM; come early to avoid the crowd. There is fun for the whole family, with a free Kids’ Fun Run for children under eight years of age at 8:30 AM. They have ribbons for all children that participate in the Fun Run. The 5k and Fitness Walk starts at 9:00 AM with line up starting at 8:45 AM. T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered 5k and Fitness Walk participants and the first 100 race day entrants.
