Madison police are searching for two men seen in surveillance video who they said vandalized Madison’s Surf Club over the weekend.
Police said Madison’s Surf Club staff told officers that on Saturday night at 11 p.m., they locked up and headed home.
But, police said when staff returned, they said they encountered a mess.
Madison Police said two men, whose images can be seen in surveillance video, broke into the surf club and trashed the building.
Police said staff noticed food from the refrigerator was thrown on the floor, sink and toilets were clogged while the water ran, chairs and tables were thrown about, and menus were pulled from the walls.
Police were told a new tent on the patio that was only up for a month was torn.
Crews immediately cleaned up the mess and First Selectman said police will find the pair.
“It’s very malicious type behavior,” said First Selectman Tom Banisch.
“I was sickened by it. We’ve had growing incidents of vandalism in town and it’s probably all related, but they move around, it’s hard to keep track.”
Police said they believe the two men, seen in the images, got in through a locked kitchen door.
“It’s such a shame, this is where people come with their families and it’s for nice, wholesome enjoyment of this beautiful setting,” said beachgoer Alana Kontos.
Police are urging those with information on the suspects to call the Madison Police Department at 203-318-3040.
