
Central ConnecticutFARMINGTON -- (June 23) Plans to ease traffic at the intersection of routes 4 and 177 call for replacing a steel bridge over the Farmington River. The two-lane bridge, built in 1939, would be replaced by a five-lane bridge.CROMWELL -- (June 23) The Middlesex Career Fair offered free résumé critiques by experts on Tuesday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. On Tuesday, it offered a drop-off station at Northend Church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. where items such as canned goods, rice, boxed cereal and more could be donated.MIDDLETOWN -- (June 23) A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday near 47 Ferry St. in honor of the development of 15 units of affordable housing in the city's North End.WINDSOR LOCKS -- (June 23) Renovations to the second floor of the Town Hall are under way and include a new elevator, air conditioning, sprinklers and lighting and other electrical work.NEW BRITAIN -- (June 23) The city has opened the swimming pools at A.W. Stanley Park and Willow Brook Park for the summer. The daily cost to use the pools, which are open seven days a week, is $3 for adults and $2 for children younger than 17 years old, and there is no charge for children younger than 5 years old. However, season passes are also available at City Hall's Parks and Recreation Office for $15 for an individual and $25 for a family.ENFIELD -- (June 22) Gov. Jodi Rell announced the rehabilitation project scheduled for the Interstate 91 bridge at exit 49 on Monday. The project will be completed through the use of federal stimulus funds. Western ConnecticutSEYMOUR -- (April 20) It's been more than a decade since the town first heard about state plans to build a fish bypass channel on the Tingue Dam to revive dying fisheries on the Naugatuck River. After years of inactivity, the project is in line to receive about $3 million in federal stimulus funds and another $2.2 million from the state.SEYMOUR -- (April 6) A traveling memorial of 5,000 U.S. flags honoring those Americans who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq will be on display at Seymour Congregational Church through April 19.WOODBURY -- (Jan. 19) Rob Zombie, founder of the rock band White Zombie, has purchased a home in Woodbury. The building, which was built in 1889 and is on the National Register of Historic Places, has been vacant for years. Work to repair the structure has been ongoing. The polls opened for a referendum on wehther to buy the former state mental hospital property or allow the state to regain control of the 419-acre site.
