Commuters were stuck in a sticky situation on Wednesday morning after a truck carrying soda syrup overturned on Interstate 91.

The crash led to the closure of southbound lanes of Interstate 91 in Wethersfield early Wednesday morning.

All southbound lanes of the roadway were closed near exit 25N around 12:15 a.m. The road reopened around 6 a.m.

State police said that the truck was carrying syrup for soda, which needed to be unloaded from the truck before it could be cleared from the roadway.

Police said the truck was spanned across the highway on it's side, prompting all lanes to be closed.
