West Hartford is making paying for parking and other things around town a little more convenient.

Beginning next week, the town is launching electronic payment cards that can even be used at some local businesses.

On April 1, the Parcxmart program kicks off all around West Hartford Center and drivers can use the debit cards to park at any of the 350 on-street parking meters.

Town officials said they hope people will also use the cards at stores participating in the program.

The card itself costs $1 and can be reused.
