HARTFORD, Conn. -- The NCAA champion University of Connecticut Huskies were honored at a parade in Hartford Sunday afternoon.
The parade began at 3 p.m. A rally was held on the Capitol's north steps after the parade.
The parade stepped off at 3 p.m. from the Capitol Building, traveled north on Trinity Street, along Bushnell park, turned right onto Jewell Street, left onto Gold Street, right onto Capitol Avenue before returning to the north steps of the Capitol Building. The team traveled on top of a double-decker bus. This year, the parade route was shortened, officials said. The hope was to cut the cost at least in half, they said, with money being raised in donations from local businesses. The team capped its 39-0 season with its sixth NCAA title on April 7 with a victory over the Louisville Cardinals.
