Thursday's heavy snowstorm has left the region with a low supply of blood, according to the American Red Cross.The organization released a statement on Friday, indicating that it is struggling to meet the needs of area hospitals.Blood drives were canceled on Thursday because of the storm.To donate blood through the American Red Cross, individuals must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.To schedule an appointment and obtain more information, call the Red Cross by dialing 800-GIVE-LIFE, or log on to the American Red Cross Connecticut Blood Services Region's Web site.
