WFSB & WSHM Human Resources Director
The Human Resources Director is responsible for planning, developing, directing and implementing station specific HR services and Labor Relations in support of business objectives, managing all aspects of the HR function, and serves as the station's employee relations and change agent. This is a hands on, detail oriented HR position with a heavy workload/hours, tight budget, and an estimated 10-15% travel, mostly between Hartford and Springfield. This position serves the Corporation's needs for compliance and the Broadcasting Group's HR needs to optimally conduct that aspect of its business. Specific objectives of this position will be to partner with WFSB & WSHM for positive contributions to their business performance and work to significantly prevent and reduce HR issues and legal costs.Minimum QualificationsEducation: Four-year degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.Experience: Minimum 5 years of exempt generalist HR experience required. 2-3 years of experience actively managing, reviewing and responding to claims and lawsuits related to EEO, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, HIPAA, SOA, and Title VII. Past supervisory experience is required. Past experience working with CBA's.
Specific Knowledge: Recruitment, hiring, selection, progressive discipline, EEO/FMLA/ADA/NLRB/Work Comp basics, CBA fundamentals. Basic knowledge of state and federal laws affecting employment. Fundamentals of Compensation and Benefits. High skill with PC/Tech for HR including past experience with HRIS technology. Fundamentals of HR Metrics. Training facilitation and coordination. HR Problem prevention and root cause analysis. Compliance. On-boarding. EEO analyses. Performance Management. Files, record security, and retention. EAP. Intern Programs.Skills and Abilities: Facilitation, labor negotiations, consulting, project management and organizational skills required. Must have strong oral and written communication skills as well as possess strong interpersonal/influence skills. Must be able to manage multiple projects and shift priorities as customer needs change. Ability and desire to take on new and unfamiliar tasks and assignments. Must be an effective leader with the ability to create effective change. Must be able to work both on a team or independently and exercise good judgment.
