WFSB-TV-DT Channel 3 assignment editors are expected to contribute to the team effort of effectively enterprising, developing and covering local news.

Assignment editors are expected to contribute multiple story ideas on a daily basis, develop a comprehensive coverage plans, and work with anchors, reporters, photographers, and editors.

Assignment editors will be responsible for working with various news sources to gather information, establishing and coordinating satellite shots, and planning microwave coverage.

WFSB assignment editors must be proficient and aggressive in monitoring scanner traffic, developing community contacts, building a comprehensive rolodex, and building a sweeping system for daily rounds and follow-up checks.

The assignment desk must also coordinate with other WFSB departments to develop and complete stories and projects. WFSB assignment editors must be diligent in identifying newscast audiences and pitching stories that strategically target each show audience, based on available market research.

Minimum Qualfications

Minimum BA or BS in journalism preferred. Interest in communications/journalism & current events. At least two years experience on an assignment desk preferred. Good organizational skills. Ability to type with accuracy and speed.
