WASHINGTON (WFSB) - Preparations in Washington DC continue ahead of Tuesday night’s State of the Union address.

President Joe Biden is expected to address several key issues from inflation to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The standard safety protocols have been under way. Fencing and barricades line the outside perimeter of the White House.

In the address, Biden has several major topics to cover, including continued workforce recovery efforts from the COVID-19 pandemic, a plan to battle inflation, and with Russia’s recent invasion, foreign policy will be majorly highlighted.

Locally, Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin will attend the State of the Union as a virtual guest of Rep. John Larson.

Rep. Joe Courtney announced that Gales Ferry fire Chief Anthony Caccone will be his guest of honor.

And House appropriations chair Rep. Rosa DeLauro has asked Ernest Pagan from New Haven, representing union carpenters in Connecticut, as her guest, also virtually.

Some key issues for Connecticut include infrastructure, boosting the local economy and protecting America’s First Responders Act.
