Tattoo artist

(Meredith) -- The FDA issued a consumer advisory recalling certain tattoo inks that were found to be contaminated with microorganisms.

Tattoo artists, retailers of tattoo inks, and consumers considering getting a new tattoo are advised to double check what type of ink they are using.

The following tattoo inks were found to be contaminated:

  • Scalpaink SC, Scalpaink PA, and Scalpaink AL basic black tattoo inks manufactured by Scalp Aesthetics (all lots)
  • Dynamic Color - Black tattoo ink manufactured by Dynamic Color Inc (lots 12024090 and 12026090)
  • Solid Ink-Diablo (red) tattoo ink manufactured by Color Art Inc. (dba Solid Ink) (dba Antone's Ink) (lot 10.19.18)

The microorganisms can cause serious infections and injuries to the skin. Consumers are advised to ask their tattoo artist what ink they use and check it against the list of effected products.
