PD: 9 people, including children, injured in Bristol crash

An off-duty Bristol Police Department police officer was arrested after he failed to pass sobriety tests on Saturday morning.

Police responded to reports of a man asleep in his personal car near the intersection of School Street of a North Main Street on Saturday at 2:25 a.m.

Police identified the person as a Bristol Police Officer, 32-year-old, Terryville resident, Officer Brian Bonati. Police said Bonati failed field sobriety tests which indicated to police Bonati was intoxicated.

Bonati was arrested for operating while under the influence of alcohol, transported to police headquarter where police said he refused a breathalyzer test.

Bonati was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Bonati was issued a $500 bond and is expected to appear in court on November 6th.

The Bristol Police Department is investigating.
