The Ann Taylor store in Glastonbury is closing for good next month.
Online sales are partly to blame.
It’s a hard decision many companies are making in recent years with brick and mortar stores.
The Glastonbury store has been open for at least a decade.
On August 25, the Glastonbury store will be closing
Channel 3 learned rising rent and online sales are a couple of reasons.
More people are buying online and then returning in store.
It’s a trend companies are seeing nationwide, their stores becoming less profitable.
Loyal customers say it’s disappointing to hear.
“I thought it was a good store. I always bought my mom presents there. I do shop online a lot but if I’m buying someone present I’d rather go to the store and pick it out,” said Ashley Annunziata.
The other five Ann Taylor locations in the state are not shutting down.
Customers who shop at the one in Glastonbury have until August to make their last in-store purchase.
