State police said a Department of Transportation truck and a car were involved in a crash on Interstate 95 in Milford on Wednesday morning.

Just before 11 a.m., a DOT truck was stopped in the left lane of I-95 south, just before exit 34.

Police said the truck was in an active construction zone, with a left lane closure and his rear sign board arrow was activated directing traffic to the right.

A Nissan Maxima driver was traveling in the left lane, and tried to change lanes, but ended up hitting the back of the truck.

The occupants of the car were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Police identified the driver as Daquan Morris, of Bridgeport, who was operating the car under a suspended license.

He was charged with operating under suspension, failure to move over, and reckless driving. He is expected to appear in court on Nov. 17.

Police said this crash serves as a reminder to drivers about the “Move Over” law: Any operator of a motor vehicle on a highway when approaching one or more stationary emergency vehicles (including tow trucks and highway maintenance vehicles) located on the shoulder, lane or breakdown lane of such highway shall (1) IMMEDIATELY REDUCE SPEED to a reasonable level below the posted speed limit, and (2) if traveling in the lane adjacent to the shoulder, lane or breakdown lane containing such emergency vehicle, MOVE such motor vehicle OVER one lane, unless such movement would be unreasonable or unsafe.
