Two people stole an ATM machine from the Westfield Trumbull Mall Thursday morning.

Police said it happened around 9 a.m.

A dark maroon or burgundy colored minivan, possible with New York registration plates, drove up to the north sidewalk entrance of the mall, which is next to the Macy's and J.C. Penny department stores.

Police said the two men who got out of the vehicle wore ski masks and dark clothing.

They exited the van with a handcart and entered the mall.

They broke the machine away from its bolts and wheeled it out of the building with the cart, police said.

No tools were used.

The van then left the area at a high rate of speed in the direction of Madison Avenue. They were headed south.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Trumbull Police Department at 203-261-3665. Calls can be anonymous and confidential.
