Residents in Berlin are being asked to limit their outside water use until further notice.

In addition, residents are also being urged to shorten showers, run full loads for clothes washing and dish washing, and turning off water while brushing teeth.

This request comes amid the drought situation in Connecticut. Several other communities in the state are being asked to conserve water as well.

“In general, we are urging all customers to use water wisely, and to practice conservation at this time,” the New Britain Water Department said in a voluntary conservation notice.

They added that Berlin Water Control, Kensington Fire District, and Worthington Fire District all purchase water from the New Britain Water Department.

“Precipitation is well below normal. Every effort to save water is greatly appreciated,” the water department continued to say.

Anyone with questions should contact their local water provider. Berlin Water Control: 860-828-7065; Kensington Fire District: 860-828-1782; Worthington Fire District: 860-828-5630.
