Crews found a body in Lyme (WFSB)

The body of a missing swimmer was found near the Hadlyme ferry launch Tuesday morning.

Crews had been searching the CT River in Hadlyme since Sunday evening for the 42-year old man from Meriden who went missing in the Connecticut River.

After the body was found on Tuesday, Dept. of Energy and Environmental Protection officials identified it as that of 42-year- old Edwin Adino, of Meriden.

On Sunday around 6 p.m., dive teams were called from the South Fire District, Middletown, and Portland for the report of a missing swimmer.

The Meriden man had been swimming at the beach near Gillette Castle with his family when he went missing.

Crews searched for as long as they could on Sunday evening until they lost daylight. The search continued on Monday and was suspended at 5 p.m.

Ferry service was halted for some time but it has since resumed.
