Cadets participate in Connecticut State Police Youth week

20 cadets participated in the Connecticut State Police Youth week (WFSB)

This week is Connecticut State Police Youth Week.

Twenty students, who are going into their senior year, are getting an inside look at the training, duties, and expectations of state troopers.

No matter the obstacle, the cadets tackled the leadership reaction course on Wednesday, at Stone’s Ranch Military Reservation in East lime.

“They’re given an objective and mission and they do have to team building and leadership with their other teams, whether it’s trying to get some object to the other side, whether it’s the rest of their team over an obstacle,” said CT State Police Trooper First Class Christine Jeltema.

Just a few days in, Jeltema said she can already spot the changes within each cadet.

“From the first day until now, I’ve actually seen them become more confident,” she said.

On Wednesday, Channel 3 spoke to some of the cadets, as they were making their way through the different stations.

“We’re working as a team to conquer every obstacle that we can,” said Cadet Sweeney.

They also got encouragement along the way.

On Saturday afternoon, the week will be over, but these cadets will never forget the training they’ve received and the memories they’ve made.

“I’m really grateful to be here. I really am,” said Cadet Villar.
