CT kid governor election to begin next week

The Connecticut kid governor election gets underway on Monday.

For the second year of the program, there were 4,100 fifth graders participating from 75 schools in 41 cities in the state.

Students will vote on a kid governor with platforms ranging from bus safety to bullying prevention and kindness.

"This is a year-long commitment and the student who wins serves a full term from November to November where they work with our team to get their message out, work to fulfill their three platform goals and they grow as leaders,” Head of Education Brian Cofrancesco said.

The field was just narrowed down to seven finalists. Those finalists and their “community issue” are: Avery, Homelessness Chelsey, Kindness Georgia, Bus Safety Jessica, Animal Cruelty Madelyn, Senior Pet Adoption Nathan, Bullying Prevention Nicholas, RecyclingSchools have until Friday to sign-up and get involved in the voting process.
