'Days of Our Lives' star, CT native Joseph Mascolo dies

A daytime soap opera star from Connecticut passed away this week.

Joseph Mascolo, who was famous for playing Stefano DiMera on Days of Our Lives, died on Thursday, according to the show's Twitter account. Soap Opera Digest reported that Mascolo had been battling Alzheimer's Disease for years.

Mascolo, who was from West Hartford, was an actor on Days of Our Lives from 1982-2016 except for a five-year break when he was on The Bold and the Beautiful. He was also on six episodes of General Hospital.
