Connecticut Department of Transportation crews pre-treated state roads throughout the northwest hills on Wednesday night ahead of Thursday's storm.

A DOT spokesman said the pre-treatment of roads was "done primarily on the inclines and slopes." As of 11:30 a.m., no DOT trucks were "actively applying materials on the road but there are loaded trucks patrolling the roads."

DOT officials continue to watch the weather and trucks may "apply more material on the road in certain locations if needed," spokesman said.

With slick road conditions, drivers are being advised to drive accordingly. The DOT spokesman said drivers normally don’t change in to winter driving habits until after the first few major snowstorms and that can lead to crashes.
