Department of Public Works employee was arrested on Thursday in connection with a shooting in a Hartford parking lot in July.

Police said Stacy Asberry was involved in a shooting in the parking lot of Blue Five Corners convenience store, which is on Westland Street, on the evening of July 9.

By the time police arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene. Asberry, who has five previous Hartford arrests, was identified as one of the suspects through witness interviews, security footage and posts on social media. Police said surveillance footage shows Asberry "in an exchange of gunfire with a second suspect."

Asberry was charged with first-degree criminal attempt assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle and first-degree reckless endangerment.

As of Friday, Asberry was placed on unauthorized, unpaid leave for the Department of Public Works. His status with the department will be reviewed next week.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Hartford Police.
