Crews worked to remove a large tree that had fallen across power lines between Wahackme Rd and Chichester Rd. in New Canaan on Sunday.

The call to respond came in at approximately 2:30 p.m. and two officers and an Eversource crew were on scene as late as 8:30 p.m. The road remained closed to traffic as crews worked.

State Police at Troop L in Litchfield said the fallen tree snapped a power line at the top of the lines.

Drivers are urged to take an alternate route.
