Glastonbury student hit by car near middle school

A middle school student was hit by a car in Glastonbury on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the student was hit while in the area of Addison Road, near Smith Middle School.

The male student sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The school's principal said the child was hit by a slow-moving truck. Witnesses said it was a pick-up truck.

The boy was alert and conscious as the ambulance arrived.

It doesn't appear excessive speed is a factor in this incident, but a man who lives on Addison Road and heard the crash said people do tend to drive too quickly on the road, especially during school hours.

"When they come back from work there's many cars that come flying up this road at 11 and 12 and 1 p.m., the people go through this stop sign," said Donald Bouchard.
