A Hamden High School teacher was pulled out of the classroom following an accusation of inappropriate conduct.

The Hamden superintendent of schools said the administration at the high school received a complaint from a parent last week. That led them to remove the teacher, and begin an investigation.

The Hamden Public School District released a statement saying "In keeping with well-established protocols, the teacher was immediately removed from the classroom and was placed on administrative leave with pay and without prejudice while the district investigates this matter."

The teacher has not been identified, and the school did not go into detail on what kind of inappropriate contact is alleged to have taken place, or whether or not it happened on school grounds.

"The safety of our students is our top priority. This allegation will be thoroughly investigated and the district will continue to cooperate and collaborate with appropriate authorities as necessary,” the school district said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.
