Hartford school closed today after student hit sprinkler system

A school in Hartford closed on Tuesday because of a water line break.

Officials said the High Road School of Hartford High School would be closed on Nov. 1.

Police were called to the school after a student, who was placed in an isolation room for "acting out," struck a sprinkler with her shoe. That activated the school's sprinkler system.

This caused extensive damage to the school, police said. The cost of the damage would be available on Tuesday afternoon.

The student was arrested, police said.

School officials will assess the situation on Tuesday to decide whether they will need to close the school again on Wednesday.

The High Road School of Hartford elementary school will still be in session on Tuesday.
