Bridgeport police said a large fight broke out at Bassick High School Friday.

Officials said the fight started around noon and continued outside.

Two guards who attempted to break up the fight were sent to the hospital. 9 students were arrested and suspended.

It took 20 minutes for the fight to be put under control, according to police.

Police said that since the beginning of school they have been dealing with fights between students who live in PT Barnum apartments and Green Homes.

Officials said that same day, students from P.T. Barnum apartments entered the main office and assaulted a student from Green Homes who was registering for school.

Police are not sure at this time whether the incident was gang related.
