EAST WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) – Crews battled a massive fire at a home in East Windsor Thursday evening

Smoke could been seen for miles after the fire was reported at a home on Barber Hill Road.

Mutual aid from several towns are responding to help battle the fire.

According to fire officials, two people were home when the fire started.

The family did have pets, including horses.

The family and horses were not injured.

Eyewitnesses said they jumped into action as soon as they saw flames, but there was little they could do.

"I ran over to see if I could get inside to go around back to help with the animals, but by the time, you couldn't get around the house," said Colin Anderson.

The fire marshal will determine the cause of the fire.
