A man was arrested in Stratford for trying to kidnap his ex-girlfriend and lighting her car on fire.

They said 29-year-old Pedro Oristanio of Darien was taken into custody with the help of officers in surrounding towns.

It began as a domestic violence call on Kings College Place Tuesday.

Police said when they arrived, they found that Oristanio had tried to abduct a woman.

They said he also set fire to her car, which was parked next to the home.

They learned that he may have been heading to one of three locations outside of their jurisdiction, so they called neighboring police departments for help.

Oristanio was eventually arrested in New Canaan.

Stratford police charged him with second-degree arson, attempted kidnapping, unlawful restraint, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree threatening.

He's being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
