Police in Ellington are looking for a man who has been trying to get into homes while claiming to look for someone named "Chrissy."

A photo of the suspect taken by a home security camera Sunday night was released Monday afternoon.

Ellington police said the man tried to enter homes between Wrapping Wood Road and Ellington Avenue between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

He did gain access to some, police said, through unlocked doors.

“Somebody actually had a camera outside their house, one of those security systems and was able to get a picture of him and sent it to me and I was like, yup that’s the guy who was at my door or in my door," said Alicia Forst, of Ellington.

She said she was cleaning and waiting for her daughter to come home.

“I heard the screen door open and the dog barks her little bark, hello and I don’t hear my daughter and I peeked around the corner and there was a guy standing there in my foyer. I was like 'can I help you?' And he goes “You’re not Chrissy.” And he goes “Sorry.” He walks out the front door, gets in his car that he had parked right behind my car and it was a grey Nissan and just drove off," Forst said.

She added that she thought nothing of it until neighbors started sharing similar or more frightening stories on social media.

“He walked right in the door and went right upstairs to the little boy's room," she said.

The photo has been making the rounds on social media. Facebook commenters said the man pulled into a number of driveways and walked up to doors and windows.

He told a few people who questioned him after finding him in their yards that he was a looking for Chrissy.

Police described him as being between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a Dallas Cowboys shirt and driving a silver Nissan Maxima.

Police are reminding residents to keep their doors locked and their alarms activated.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ellington resident trooper's office at 860-875-1522.
