Waterbury police. 

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) – Waterbury police identified a man killed in a shooting last Thursday evening.

James David Smith, 26, who recently moved to Waterbury from New York City, sustained wounds to the head and body area.

Police said officers were dispatched to the area of Chestnut Avenue around 7:45 p.m. on May 13 for the report of shots fired.

Officers located Smith. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

They said on Monday that investigation remains active.
