A man was shot several times in Meriden Thursday night.

Police said they first responded to the area of 30 Willow St. around 8:30 p.m. for a report of "shots fired."

They found no one there.

However, a victim arrived at Midstate Medical Center a short time later.

Hospital staff reported that the 18-year-old victim was shot several times. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Police responded to the hospital and found the victim. They did not identify him.

They said they were able to determine that the shooting did happen on Willow Street.

Police returned to the scene and found a handgun and a number of shell casings.

A second person who was in the area at the time of the shooting was also found. That person suffered an injury to the foot; however, there's no word on whether or not the injury was the result of gunfire.

Anyone with information about what happened is urged to call the Meriden Police Department at 203-630-6297.
