Man stopped for speeding arrested for having nearly a pound of marijuana

A man stopped for going nearly 20 mph over the speed limit in Willimantic was found to have almost a pound of marijuana in is car, according to police.

Officers said they pulled over 23-year-old Corey Fowler, of Taftville, on Route 32 around 1:45 a.m. Friday.

They said he was going 53 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Through the stop, police said they learned that he had 15.996 ounces of marijuana inside the vehicle.

The pot was seized.

Fowler was charged with possession of greater than 4 ounces of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

His bond was set at $50,000.

Fowler was given a court date of Friday at Danielson Superior Court.
