Parents are keeping their eyes peeled in New Haven after a stranger approached three young girls.

He was confronted by mother, Tiffany Meeker, and that is when he ran off.

Meeker said her 10-year-old daughter was outside her house, playing with some friends on Monday night when a man came up to them on Lexington Avenue.

"I'm in the doorway, I overhear a man come up to her and two little girls and say can you come with me, take a walk with me, I lost my smart phone,” Meeker said.

When she saw the three girls step toward the man in order to hear what he was saying, that’s when she quickly ran down her back stairs to confront him.

"As soon as I came out he ran, so if you're looking for your phone, you're not going to just run away and you're not going to watch little girls from down the street,” Meeker said.

She called the police, but she said the man was nowhere to be found. He was described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, was heavy set, and was balding with brown hair and was wearing glasses.

This comes less than a week after a man approached groups of children in Madison, asking them if they wanted to play Pokemon Go.

To get the word out on the incident, Meeker posted the details to the New Haven’s See, Click, Fix page. She said she’s been in contact with the alderwoman who lives in the neighborhood, and adds that she has already had the stranger talk again with her daughter.

"I want to make sure that everyone in this area is diligent and watching their kids,” Meeker said. "We all need to be on guard."

In addition to talking with local officials, Meeker said she is also reaching out to the police sergeant who heads up the community watch.

If you see anything suspicious or have any information, you’re urged to call police.
