A nurse aide from Norwalk was arrested after police said she stole thousands of dollars from two of her elderly patients in Hamden.

One woman accused Moneek Grant from stealing from her elderly parents, who police said both have significant medical issues.

The woman said her parents live at Atria Larson Place, which is an assisted senior living facility on 1450 Whitney Avenue. She told police that she hired “Elite Homecare” to provide nurses’ aides for her parents.

“Elite Homecare” sent Grant to help care for the woman’s parents at Atria Larson Place.

While the woman said she was reviewing her parents’’ finances, she said a total of $3,846 was stolen from their bank account.

Police said Grant, who is an Elite Homecare employee, made illegal purchases and withdrawals with the woman’s mother’s debit card.

The thefts occurred between Feb. 13, 2012 through Feb. 28, 2012.

Grant was charged with second-degree identity theft, second-degree conspiracy to commit identity theft, fraudulent use of an ATM, third-degree larceny and third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

Grant is being held on a $100,000 bond. She is expected to appear at Meriden Superior Court on May 9.
