The media got a sneak peek of a new orthopedic specialty hospital and medical center in Hartford on Tuesday.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Hartford HealthCare’s Bone & Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital was held on Tuesday afternoon.

Hartford HealthCare and Orthopedic Associates of Hartford officials said the $150-million orthopedic center and ambulatory surgical center will bring "all of the Bone & Joint Institute’s orthopedic and musculoskeletal treatments under one roof."

The building is 160,000 feet with five floors and 10 operating rooms.

The center will open on Dec. 19.
