A dog found to either be neglected or lost in East Windsor has police searching for its owner.

Police said on Friday that the German Shepard mix was found on Abbe Road two days ago.

They posted a photo on their Facebook page.

"As you can see he is in very bad shape and either was neglected by the owner who decided to abandon him or he has been missing from his owner for a long time and was just discovered," police wrote.

Police said the dog is putting on pounds at the town's animal shelter under the care of a veterinarian.

Anyone with information about its owner can call police at 860-292-8240.

They said callers can remain anonymous.
