West Hartford police arrested a man in connection with a home break-in late Thursday night.

Police arrested 53-year-old Jeffrey Barnes, of Hartford, after a silent alarm at a home on Goodsell Street just before midnight.

Police said a suspicious person, who was later identified as Barnes, with a reflective vest, black pants and carrying a black bag was seen walking around a home in that area. The man fled the area on a bicycle, police said.

Police said they found a screen of the back of the home “pushed in." Police added several other screens were cut and a back window was smashed. The homeowner also told police someone did enter into her bedroom on the second floor.

Barnes, who was still wearing the reflective vest and black pants, was located on New Park Avenue near Hamilton Street where he was arrested by officers.

Barnes was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree trespassing, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.
