PD: Plainville man tried to meet with 'preteen victim for sex'

A Plainville man was arrested after police said he "attempted to meet with a preteen victim for sex" in Southington on Wednesday.

Police arrested 36-year-old Charles Andrew Stone in connection with an undercover investigation "related to the patronizing and solicitation of pre-teen sex trafficking victims." The investigation was conducted by the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

Police said Stone "communicated via the internet with undercover state police detectives."

Stone was charged with weapons in vehicles, risk of injury to child, criminal attempt for second-degree sexual assault, patronizing a prostitute and trafficking in persons.

Police said Stone posted his $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Nov. 28.
