Police in Bristol seized two roosters who were confined in cages in the basement of a convenience store.
Officers and the state’s Department of Revenue Services responded to the Tropical Market Convenience Store on School Street on Thursday for a routine inspection.
While they were there, officials said they found evidence indicating the possibility of an animal fighting operation.
Police said they searched the store and found the roosters in the basement, along with paraphernalia used to care for the birds, and items to care for injuries that may be sustained by the animals.
No arrests have been made at this time. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
