PD: Two SCSU students arrested for October armed robbery

Two Southern Connecticut State University students were arrested Thursday in connection with an armed robbery in Watertown last October.

Police said Dakota Morotto, 20, of Watertown and Taevon Walker, 21, of Bridgeport, were arrested after they robbed an acquaintance at Veteran’s Park on October 23.

Morotta allegedly met the victim at the park to smoke marijuana.

According to officials, Morotta had told the victim that he would meet him at the park to smoke marijuana and then planned to rob the person with Walker.

Police said Morotto was in a car with the victim when Walker, whose face was concealed with a mask, approached them and robbed the victim with a knife.

Officials said the victim’s keys, cell phone and marijuana were stolen.

The weapon and marijuana used during the robbery was seized by police.

Morotto and Walker were charged with 1st degree robbery, 2nd degree reckless endangerment and 2nd degree breach of peace.

Morotto was also charged with 2nd degree conspiracy of robbery.

SCSU officials have taken disciplinary action has been taken against the students, according to police.

Both men are currently being held on bond.
